Empower HerFuture Workshops
All of our workshops are now offered virtually!
HerFuture workshops cover 3 main areas of development.
Our introductory workshop, Empower HerFuture focuses on key ideas such as pre-professional skills and confidence building. Our other two workshops focus on tackling the fear of public speaking, and building successful networking skills. Overall, Empower HerFuture works to convey the potential influence and power women hold towards shaping themselves and the world around them.
We recommend starting with the Empower workshop first, as it sets the tone and introduces concepts used in the other three workshops. Our most popular workshop is our Public Speaking workshop as this is such an important, yet commonly feared, skill!
EMPOWER HERFUTURE: Leadership
Empower is our flagship workshop, which focuses upon specific skill building in order to get to know yourself and recognize the power behind your individual voice. This workshop is laid out in a series of high-energy activities, meant to identify your personal strengths and weaknesses, and build off of them. We will practice getting out of your comfort zone through confidence building activities and transition into the importance of asserting your voice, and how to do this effectively. We aim to create a space where girls are able to become leaders and support one another. HerFuture Lead prepares young women to have the skills and confidence to effectively lead and navigate any situation life throws at them. We first analyze the power dynamics often present in group work situations and break down the stigmas of powerful, female leaders. Then, we discuss what being a leader means to them, and how they hope to improve their leadership skills. By breaking down different leadership styles and communication techniques, we will help workshop participants realize how they can best utilize their unique skills and voices to facilitate productive group work. The concepts that are covered in HerFuture Lead will not only help these young women in classroom settings in school, but in the workplace and beyond.

Empower HERFUTURE: Public Speaking
HerFuture Public Speaking specifically emphasizes the importance of public speaking for young women. We believe that, before all else, it is vital to analyze why public speaking is such a nerve-racking fear for so many people. The fact that women face different challenges than men when it comes to public speaking is rarely addressed. While exploring this idea, we will analyze how women and men are taught to behave differently in social settings, especially when it comes to body language. With this information, we can begin to change the ingrained ways we are taught to make our bodies small, and develop confidence to combat the fear of public speaking. During this workshop we will also break down what qualifies a good speech and how to implement these characteristics into our own speeches. Finally, we will put these skills into practice through different public speaking exercises.

Empower HerFuture: Networking
Empower HerFuture Networking workshop covers the foundational ideas behind networking. We begin by covering the importance of a first impression, followed by breaking down the perfect handshake. As a group, we then identify the fear of networking and how we can break these barriers down by becoming more comfortable and confident in uncomfortable situations. Next, our team will provide an overview of an elevator pitch, and help the students craft their very own, which we will then put into practice by facilitating a fast-paced activity meant to get the networking juices flowing! Finally, we prepare the group to think on their feet by creating an imaginary “story bank”, which they can fall back on when asked tough question in interviews and other networking situations. Through all of these discussions and exercises, we work together to build one another up and grow in confidence as a group and as individuals!
